Members of the House of Representatives will return to legislative business in plenary on September 17, 2024
With a nationwide protest looming in just nine days, the House of Representatives has adjourned for eight weeks to reconvene on September 17, 2024.
This decision was announced by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu (APC Abia) during Tuesday’s plenary session.
In his closing remarks, Kalu expressed gratitude on behalf of the Speaker, acknowledging the support and unity among members. He urged lawmakers to engage with their constituents during the break and remain available for any emergencies.
He said: “On behalf of the Speaker I thank all members for support and unity in the House, we hope that you spend time with your constituents, we hope to see you soon.”
Kalu, after putting the question members responded with a resounding “ayes”.
