Sokoto State, in north-west Nigeria, has a total of fourteen members in the national assembly, comprising of three senators and eleven representatives in the House
Sokoto State is located in the extreme north-west of the country. It was created in 1976 from the erstwhile North-west State. Bounded by the Republic of Niger to the north and west, and the states of Zamfara to the east, and Kebbi to the south and west, partly across the Ka River, Sokoto is located near to the confluence of the Sokoto River and the Rima River. Its capital and largest city is the city of Sokoto. As of 2022, it has an estimated population of more than 6.3 million with twenty three Local Government Areas (LGAs). Mr. Ahmad Aliyu is the Governor of Sokoto State under the platform of the All Progressives Party (APC).

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal
Sen. Tambuwal is a first-term member representing Sokoto south senatorial district under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Tambuwal has served as the governor of Sokoto from 2015 to 2023 and also served as the 12th Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from 2011 to 2015. Currently, Sen. Senator Magatakarda Aliyu Wamakko
Sen. Wamakko is ranking senator representing Sokoto north under the All Progressives Congress (APC). First elected in 2019, he previously chaired the senate committee on defence and was the deputy chairman of the committee on anti-corruption and financial crimes. Prior to his time in the senate, he was the deputy governor of Sokoto state from 1999 to 2006 and later served as governor from 2007 to 2015.
