Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central), a seasoned figure in the Nigerian political landscape, has found himself recently at the centre of a storm in the National Assembly. 

Over three hours of energy and resources were expended during Tuesday’s plenary in the red chamber as Senators unleashed their plight on the budget padding allegations by Senator Ningi and voted in favour of a three-month suspension over his allegations of N3trn padding in the 2024 budget.

OrderPaper recalls that Ningi, who was the Chairman of Northern Senators Forum (NSF) came under fire following his interview with BBC House Service where he made claims that the 2024 budget was padded with the sum of N3.7 trillion.
