Reps swear-in Tafida Abbas to replace late lawmaker

Abbas was declared the winner of the election conducted on 14 February 2024, after polling 19,681 votes to defeat his closest contenders.

The House of Representatives has sworn in Rep. Sadiq Tafida Abbas (PDP, Taraba) who took the oath of allegiance before other members of parliament and replaced the late Ismaila Maihanci Yushau.

Abbas was declared winner of the election conducted last week Wednesday, 14 February 2024, after polling 19,681 votes to defeat his closest contenders, Umar Innocent Patrick of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who received a total of 16,379 votes, and Ibrahim Aminu Malle of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 12,662 votes.

He is representing the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State.

He is a 32-year-old mechanical engineer who is happily married.

Meanwhile, Rep. Abbas contested for the seat he now occupies in two consecutive elections before he succeeded.

He is a philanthropist and has empowered a lot of Youths and Women in his constituency.
