Supreme Court Verdict: Battle over, let’s collaborate for good governance – Barau

The Deputy Senate President reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to make laws that will support the executive’s measures for the nation’s development and unity.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin (APC, Kano North), has commended the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling it a victory for democracy.

He also advised the appellants to work with the President to address the issues facing the nation.

Barau gave this commendation on Thursday in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.

The Supreme Court on Thursday, dismissed the appeals by the presidential candidates, Peter Obi (LP) and Atiku Abubakar (PDP),

The Statement read, “The legal battle is over with today’s judgment of the Supreme Court, affirming the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the February 25, 2023, presidential election. Nigerians have won, democracy has won, and the country will be better for it.

“I commend the justices of the Supreme Court for upholding the verdict of the Nigerian electorate who voted for President Tinubu during the presidential election. It is now time for all to team up with the president to actualise his lofty programmes and policies for the development of our country as captured in the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to pass legislations that will support the executive’s numerous measures for the nation’s development, unity, and economic recovery.
