President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the Senate’s Confirmation of Hon. Yemi Fashua as Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) to represent Ogun State.

According to President Tinubu, the request is made based on section 154 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

This request was sent in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday during plenary.

According to the letter read by Akpabio, Fashua is to replace Kunle Shobukola who was earlier confirmed by the Senate but got reappointed.

The letter read, “The Senate is invited to note that Yemi Fahsua is to replace Honourable Kunle Shobokela who was earlier confirmed by the Senate and expected to vacate to take up his seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly due to an order of the Court of Appeal declaring him as the winner of the 18th March 2023 State Assembly election.”

Akpabio thereafter referred the request to the committee on National Population Commission (NPC) to report back in one week.

Also, President Tinubu per the provisions of section 12 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) 2007, sent a list of 12 persons as Chairman and Members of the Constitution of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

These names include Olayemi Cardoso – CBN Governor/Chairman; Muhammed Sani Abdullahi – CBN Deputy Governor/ Member; Bala Bello – CBN Deputy Governor/Member; Emem Usoro – CBN Deputy Governor/Member; Philip Ikazo -CBN Deputy Governor/Member; Lamido Yuguda – DG Security Allegiance Commission.

Others are; Jafiya Lydia Shehu – Permanent Secretary, Minister of Finance; Muritala Sabo Sagagi- CBN Director; Alocious Uche – Member; Agwu Pauline Member; Mustapha Akinwunmi – Member; and, Bamidele Eji Amoh – Member.

In a separate letter, President Tinubu also requested the confirmation of Kelechi Oyere as Director General of the National Health Insurance Act (NHIA)

Akpabio thereafter referred the request to the Committee on Health, Secondary and Tertiary Education to report back in one week.
