Seven out of seventeen Oyo lawmakers failed to sponsor a bill as fourteen Reps and three senators had 26 bills in the first year of the NASS
Aside from oversight and representation, the core function of the legislature is lawmaking for the good governance and well-being of citizens.
Members of the 10th Senate and House of Representatives processed a total number of 1,650 bills in one year. Out of which, lawmakers representing Oyo state account for 26 bills representing 1.57 percent. However, 95 percent of the bills are yet to scale through second reading while 5 percent are awaiting consideration.
According to OrderPaper’s detailed analysis between June 2023 and May 2024, the three senators representing the state account for 10 of the 475 bills sponsored in the senate. The fourteen representatives from the state account for 16 of the 1175 bills recorded in the green chamber.
Sen. Sharafadeen Abiodun representing Oyo south, a first term member, raked five (5) bills while Sen. Abdulfattai Buhari representing Oyo north, a third term member, sponsored four (4) and Sen. Yunus Akintynde representing Oyo central sponsored one (1) bills respectively.
The House of Representatives, Rep. Alao-Akala Ayodeji (a newbie) representing Ogbomoso north/Ogbomoso south topped the state’s bills chart with six (6) bills. Rep. Adepoju Adebayo, representing Ibarapa central/Ibarapa north recorded four (4).
Others are: Rep. Alabi Akin. representing Egbeda/Ona-ara and Rep. Olajide Adedeji representing Ibadan north-west/Ibadan south-west, who are both newbies, accounted for 2 bills each and are yet to scale second reading. Also, Rep. Adigun Akintunde representing Ibadan north-east/Ibadan south-east, Rep. Mohammed Kateef, representing Irepo/Olorunsogo and the only female representative from the state, Rep. Tolupe Akande Tiwalola representing Oluyole and Kareem Abisodun, representing Saki east/Saki west/Atisibo, recorded one (1) bill each. All are awaiting concurrence from the other chamber.
However, these seven Reps: Adeyemi Adeniyi representing Afijio/Oyo east/Oyo west/Atiba, a second term member; Akimoyeme Wasiu, representing Akinyele/Largelu (a newbie); Oseni Abasi Aderemi (a newbie), representing Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila; Oyedeji Oyeshina, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajoula; Ojo Makanjuola, representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere; and late Rep. Akinremi Oliade representing Ibadan north who was serving his second before his sudden demise, recorded nil in the bills chart.

This analysis is not correct!
Do your findings well because Honorable representing my own constituency has sponsored more than one bills in this 10th assembly and you stated 0 bill in your analysis
