President schedules meeting with all Senators-elect and the Members-elect of the House of Representatives in the Tenth National Assembly for Thursday, swears in Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)
Ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration of the Tenth National Assembly, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has invited Senators-elect and Members-elect for a meeting on Thursday, at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
This was contained in a letter from the President which was read during Wednesday’s plenary presided over by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC, Delta Central).
“I write to inform the Distinguished President of the Senate Senators-elect and Senators that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will hold a meeting with all Senators-elect and the Members-elect of the House of Representatives at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja on Thursday the 8th day of June at 2pm,” the letter read.

In another development, President Bola Tinubu has sworn in a former Benue Governor and Senator in the Seventh National Assembly, George Akume as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
President Tinubu presided over the brief ceremony at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja which had dignitaries, including the spouse of the new SGF, Senator-Elect Regina Akume, as well as some serving and former state governors.
Other top officials of government present were Vice President Kashim Shettima; President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan.
Senator Akume’s oath-taking ceremony comes about five days after the president announced his appointment, as well as that of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff.
