OrderPaperToday – Until there is an increase of regular power supply up to 6000Megawatts, the country will continue to experience epileptic electricity supply.

This is the position expressed by Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Mr. Sam Amadi during an appearance at a House of Representatives Committee Wednesday.

The ongoing Adhoc Committee investigative hearing is on the activities of electricity distribution companies in Nigeria as it relates to infrastructure and billing.
Fielding answers from lawmakers on how to regulate electricity billing, the NERC boss disclosed that a local content board will be inaugurated on December 4th, 2015 to determine an appropriate benchmark.
On his part, Chairman Committee on Power, Dan Asuquo at the hearing charged all electricity distribution companies to ensure compliance with the local content law by 2016.
According to Asoquo, “DISCOs must apply the local content board in 2016” while urging them to include Nigerians in their labour force to enable the country benefit by helping government to reduce unemployment.
