OrderPaperToday – The Senate Tuesday passed the 2015 supplementary appropriation bill for second reading after a debate.

The Bill for an Act to authorize the issue from the consolidated revenue funds of the federation the sum of four hundred and sixty-five billion, six hundred and thirty-six million, nine hundred and twenty-six thousand, eight hundred and fifty-seven naira, was read for the first time.

A debate on the general principles of the bill followed after which it was referred to the senate committee on Appropriation for further legislative work.

A breakdown of the bill shows that four hundred and sixty billion, six hundred and thirty six million, nine hundred and twenty-six thousand, eight hundred and fifty-seven naira is for additional  recurrent expenditure, while the balance of five billion is for contribution to the development fund for additional capital expenditure for the year ending on the 31st of December, 2015.

Meanwhile, the Senate directed its committee on Aviation to holistically investigate the reason(s) behind the non-publication of reports on air crashes by the accident investigation and prevention bureau and report back in two weeks
