OrderPaperToday – The Senate has sworn in Mao Ohuabunwa to represent Abia North senatorial district.
The politician who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took his oath of office on Wednesday as administered by senate president, Bukola Saraki.
Ohuabunwa who collected his certificate of return on Tuesday from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) won his rerun election on March 5.
Ohuabunwa defeated former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzo Kalu of the Progressives Peoples’ Alliance, (PPA); David Onuoha-Bourdex of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Nnenna Okoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Ohuabunwa’s election was on December 10, 2016, nullified by a Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital and ordered a rerun.
Ohuabunwa’s election had been challenged by former Abia governor and a candidate in the election.
