OrderPaperToday – The controversy surrounding 2016 budget deepened Thursday as the Senate accused the presidency of sending two different versions of the document to the National Assembly.
The Senate specifically accused the Presidency of replacing the original copy of the 2016 budget proposal presented by President Muhammadu Buhari last December at a joint session of the National Assembly.
President of the Senate President Bukola Sarakı stated this on Thursday in plenary after lawmakers spent over two hours in a closed session.
Senator Sarakı specifically accused the Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly matters in the senate, Ita Enang of removing the original document and replacing it with a different one.
He insisted that the senate will only consider the proposal submitted to the National Assembly by President Buhari.
Meanwhile, the President’s Senior special assistant; Senator Enang has refused to make comments on the allegations.
