The lawmakers had scheduled the commencement of screening for President Tinubu’s would-be Cabinet members for 11 am on Monday, 31st July 2023.

Following President Bola Tinubu’s submission of his Ministerial list last Thursday, the Senate is set to screen the twenty-eight (28) nominees sent in by the President.
While no announcement was made during Thursday’s plenary on the date and modalities for the screening exercise, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu (APC, Ekiti South) later told a media conference at the National Assembly Complex that the exercise would commence at 11am this Monday.
Assuring journalists that the screening will be very thorough one. he noted that “this time around, the Senate will examine character, background, and achievement from all nominees, and Nigerians will not be disappointed with the 10th Senate.”

Arriving at the Red Chamber this morning, our team observed that some Senators were already seated ahead of the commencement of the plenary session; but the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio was absent.
It is important to note that the Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze and other National Assembly Staff Members were also, already seated.
Senator Akpabio and other Principal Officers however, walked in by 12:33pm; ninety-three minutes later than the scheduled time for the screening.
With the Opening prayers said by the lawmakers, the proceedings for the screening has commenced.
