OrderPaperToday – Senate President Bukola Saraki has condemned reports of violence in the Bayelsa governorship election in Southern Ijaw local government area.
In a statement on Sunday, Saraki said it was immaterial whether the violence was perpetrated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Reports of violence that trailed Supplementary Election in Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa state is totally unacceptable,” the senate president said.
He said. Further: “Regardless of what political party we belong, we must collectively denounce the violence that has ensued during and after the ballot process, and to the young men and women out there, please remember your blood and life is worth more than any political ambition.
“I commiserate with those who have lost a loved one and I call on security agents to do everything to bring the perpetrators to face the law.”
