The House of Representatives on Tuesday, administered the oath of office on a former lawmaker, Rep. Chike Okafor (APC, Imo) following his victory at the Appeal Court against his opponent Jonas Okeke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Appeal Court ruled that Okeke was not qualified to contest the said election based on the fact that the primary election of the party was held outside the constituency, which was clearly a pre-election matter.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared the PDP candidate winner of the February 25 election. dissatisfied by the outcome, Rep. Okafor challenged the result at the Tribunal, on the grounds that Jonas Okeke was not duly sponsored and qualified to contest the election under the candidacy of his party, PDP.
