Reps summon SGF, Finance minister, AuGF, others over ‘inflation of nominal rolls’


OrderPaperToday- The House of Representatives Tuesday, summoned the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and the Minister for Finance, Budget, and National Planning, over alleged inflation of nominal rolls in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Others summoned are Head of the Service of the Federation, Accountant-General of the Federation, the Auditor-General of the Federation (AuGF) and the Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Similarly, it summoned the Chief Executive Officer, Federal Character Commission (FCC), and the officer-in-charge of Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) were also requested to appear before the committee.

The decisions were reached by the House Joint Committee on Anti-Corruption and Public Service Matters at the public hearing on the ‘Motion to Investigate the High Level of Corruption in Nominal Rolls of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the Country.’

Chairman of the joint committee, Dachung Musa Bagos (PDP, Plateau), consequently directed that all the MDAs which failed to honour their earlier invitation be made to appear or face punitive action.

Earlier, Bako Nathan who represented the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC), explained that the Commission had been investigating allegations of corrupt practices in various MDAs over the years.

The anti-graft agency said it had blocked billions of naira in various MDAs from entering private pockets. He added that the Commission blocked N42 billion unspent funds in 2019 and N147 billion in 2020.
