In addition to receiving reports of the committees, the House also read twenty Bills for the first time.
Four Committees of the House of Representatives have presented reports for consideration and adoption.
The Committees, which are ad-hoc, were constituted before the House named its standing committees in July before proceeding on recess.
Presiding over Tuesday’s plenary, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu in his ruling, approved of the reports to be presented.
The reports, presented by chairmen of the ad-hoc committees are:
Ad–hoc committee on the “Need to Investigate the Arbitrary Increase of Petrol Pump Price from N537 to N617”, the report was presented by Rep. Babajimi Benson (APC, Lagos); Ad–hoc committee on “Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the Extension of the Validity period of UTME Result for at least three (3) years and conduct of the Examination twice annually,” presented by Rep. Akume Regina (APC, Benue) (HR.68/07/2023).
Ad–hoc Committee to “Investigate Alleged Fictitious Contract Awards, Gross Mismanagement of Billions of Naira and Lopsided Placement of Directors by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).” The report was brought by Rep. Kelechi Nwogu (LP, Imo). (HR.57/07/2023).

The fourth report was presented by Rep. Abdusamad Dasuki (PDP, Sokoto) titled, “Ad–hoc Committee to “Investigate the Cause of Delay in Completing the Construction of the Abuja – Kaduna – Kano Highway.”
In the coming days, the House will list the reports for consideration as it is the norm.
In the same vein, the House also read 20 bills for the first time.
The bills, which were presented by the Leader of the House, Rep Julius Ihonbvere, include, the Institute of Chartered Corporate and Business Affairs Management of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, 2023; Standards Organisation of Nigeria Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill, 2023; Nigerian Peace Corps (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (HB.482), and the National Housing Fund Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023
Others are the National Youth Service Corps Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Martins Esin); Federal Medical Centre, Koko Delta State (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi); Federal College of Agriculture, Misau, Bauchi State (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Aliyu Bappa Misau); Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Morufu Adewale Adebayo); National Football Academy, Kpor, Rivers State (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Dumnamene R. Dekor), and Federal Medical Centre, Ugwuaji Awkunanaw, Enugu State (Establishment) Bill, (Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu).
Also passed are, the Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Paul Sunday Nnamchi); Federal College of Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Ikem Nkwo, Enugu State (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Paul Sunday Nnamchi); Nigerian Communications Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Miriam Onuoha); Federal Capital Territory Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Miriam Onuoha), and Federal College of Education Mutum Biyu, Taraba State (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (Hon. Jaafaru Yakubu).
