OrderPaperToday- The House of Representatives on Tuesday, inaugurated an Ad-hoc Committee with a responsibility to determine the actual volume of petrol consumed daily in the country.
Chairman of the Committee, Abdulkadir Sa’ad Abdullahi (APC, Bauchi), in his opening remarks stated that the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila had on 26 January 2022, constituted the Ad-hoc Committee to investigate and ascertain the actual daily consumption of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Nigeria and report back within eight weeks for further legislative action.
He however disclosed its intention to not restrict findings to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) records alone, but liaise with experts in the industry, transport workers, and all other stakeholders to determine an independent finding for the benefit of Nigerians.
“Today’s meeting is very important and key as our first and agenda setting meeting for the Committee. The Secretariat has prepared a draft work-plan indicating possible programs and activities for our consideration, inputs and adoption.
I, therefore, urge you all to consider the draft and make your input, while I look forward to a very fruitful deliberation,” he said.
