Jisalo said that the provision of social amenities in satellite towns would encourage people to do businesses within these satellite towns where they reside.

He urged the Minister to ensure the construction of more roads and supply of portable water to boost commercial activities in the satellite towns; reiterating that the facilities if constructed will ameliorate the sufferings of people living in the satellite towns.

“We will urge you to give attention to satellite towns because they are more in need of this infrastructure and that is one way a common man can benefit from Federal Government.

“The local man doesn’t care about what is happening in the city, all he wants is basic infrastructure around him. I think by doing that it will also help the FCT to decongest the traffic within the city; if I have very good infrastructure in Kubwa or Karshi, what will bring me to the city,’’ he said.

Earlier, Minister Mohammed Bello said the FCT Administration proposed N2 billion for the development of Kubwa and Karshi satellite town programmes as well as the Karshi water supply scheme.

“N500 million is for the development of Kubwa district four and five, N500 for development of Karshi district one and two and N1 billion for the Karshi water scheme,’’ Bello added.

He revealed that the FCTA was committed to increasing the city’s revenue base to ensure the full implementation of the projects.
