Growth Initiatives for Fiscal Responsibility

Growth GIFT, which stands for Initiatives for Fiscal Transparency, is an advocacy project to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal framework by seeking an amendment of the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA), 2007. The project’s theory of change posits that reducing opacity, promoting transparency, and fostering accountability through fiscal reforms will lead to improved service delivery at the national and sub-national levels.

With funding support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and technical support from Palladium International provided under the Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) project, OrderPaper has led a cluster of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) including Centre for Transparency Advocacy (CTA), HipCity Innovation Centre, CLICE Foundation, and AdvoKC, to push for the FRA amendment bill since the commencement of the 10th National Assembly. The bill has successfully passed its second reading in the House of Representatives and awaits further legislative progress. Read more on the GIFT project here.
