OderPaperToday- Peter Owolabi is one of the six representatives of Ekiti State in the House of Representatives. He a member representing Ikole/Oye federal constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr. Owolabi, whose election to parliament was marred by controversy with Mr. Bimbo Daramola challenging his victory, has yet to sponsor a bill halfway through his four-year tenure. Mr. Daramola was a member of the 7th assembly and served as chief of staff to the deputy speaker of the succeeding tenure.
Record shows that Mr. Owolabi joins two of his other counterpart from the squad of six who sponsored zero bill in the first two years of the 9th assembly in spite of knowing that it is one of the primary responsibility of lawmakers.
His bill sponsorship performance at midterm is however without prejudice on his efforts on representation and oversight function, as a good record of performance on those areas may cover up for him and make the people of his constituency consider him a worthy representative.
Nevertheless, Mr. Owolabi has shown commitment to human capital development, having reportedly donated instructional materials worth millions of naira to three primary schools in his constituency.
He may perhaps do better and have sponsored bills in his credit before the end of his four-year tenure.
