OrderPaperToday – Elezieanya Ikenna Onyechere is one of the ten representatives of Imo State in the current 9th National Assembly. He is representing Owerri North/West federal constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Reps.
He is the former Executive Chairman of the Owerri West local government area and a former member of the Imo State House of Assembly. He is the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Host Communities.
He is a chartered engineer who has been described as having intelligence, foresight, and far-sight, but during the first two years of the 9th assembly, he did not sponsor any bill related to works, construction, or other government domains.
Mr. Elezieanya has cast doubt on his ability as a legislator by sponsoring zero bills at midterm (June 2019- June2021), knowing that it is one of his primary responsibilities as a legislator.
However, his performance of bill sponsorship at midterm is without prejudice on the efforts of the other key functions of oversight and representation that is also required of him as a legislator.
Perhaps a good record of performance on those areas would cover up for him and make the people of his constituency consider him a worthy representative.
He may do better and have sponsored bills accredited to his name in the remaining months of his four-year tenure.
