OrderPaperToday – Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Rural Development Oladipupo Adebutu has said that Ogun State is in the worst shape it has ever been since its creation.
“The people of Ogun State have never had it so bad than under the administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun as many have been rendered homeless and source livelihood destroyed to pave ways for the road constructions going on in the state.”
Adebutu said this while hosting members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Ogun Central Senatorial District.
He further said that “any reasonable government must be responsible to the people who elect them into office, and must do what will put smiles on their faces, and not to add to their pains. But what is happening in Ogun State in the name of rebuilding existing roads are mere cosmetics which is adding to the poverty of the people as those whose houses were demolished were not compensated and where they did, not adequately”.
According to him, to attract any meaningful development to the state, employment generation must be given top priority by the government.
Adebutu made several suggestions that could aid employment generation in Ogun State.
“Employment generation must start from creating sustainable economic drivers like the Agro Cargo Airport, Kajola and Olokola Free Trade zones, all which have the potentials to put many of our youth in permanent employment”.
He finally urged members of the PDP to shun divisive actions “so that they can replace the Amosun government with a government that has a human face and makes the people’s welfare its cardinal policy.”
