OrderPaperToday – Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Gaza Jonathan has claimed that the rift between Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila has been laid to rest as both men have resolved to sheath their swords.
Mr. Jonathan said at a briefing with the House Press Corp on Tuesday.
According to him, Gbajabiamila met with Speaker Dogara in a closed door shortly after the All Progressive Congress (APC) caucus meeting on Tuesday. He attributed the peaceful conduct of the day’s plenary session to the renewed rapport between both leaders.
He said the boycott of the inauguration ceremony by the majority leader and his supporters have been put behind the House as the Committees have resumed work in earnest.
“Committees have been inaugurated and we have since started work. We’ve been able consolidate and we’ve gone far. It’s time to deliver on the expectation expected of us,” he said.
It would be recalled that Gbajabiamila and some of his loyalists had boycotted the inauguration of Standing Committees on Monday over the Speaker’s alleged failure to consult him before appointing heads of the various committees.
