On this week’s episode of #MondayMeme, we highlight some of the Rules on Behaviour of Members in the Nigerian House of Representatives; the green chamber of the National Assembly.

House

Decorum: All members are expected to enter and leave the House with Decorum during a sitting

 

Members to take their places: On coming into the chamber, every Member of the House is expected to take his/her seat and shall not, at any time, stand in any of the passages or gangways.


Members to make Obeisance to the Chair: Every Member shall make obeisance to the Chair in passing to or from his seat.

 

Crossing the floor of the House: Members shall not cross the floor of the House unnecessarily or sit in a place allotted to any other member.

 

Members passing through the House: Members are to take care not to pass between the chair and any member who is speaking or between the Chair and the Mace.

 

When Speaker is putting a Question: When the Speaker is putting a question, no member may walk out of, or, across the chamber.

 

Reading of newspapers: Members shall not read newspapers in their places and shall only read such books and letters as may be connected with the business under debate.
