OrdePaperToday – Executive Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Chief Victor Muruako, has appealed to youths and other aggrieved individuals to put an end to insecurity and wanton destruction of life and property in Imo state and the South East.
Muruako, who was a two time Local Government Chairman and Community Leader in Owerri West of Imo state, lamented the spate of insecurity in Imo state insisting that it will only serve to hinder development.
“I am disturbed because I know the implication of insecurity, it averts development and would not lead to any progress in the society” the FRC boss stated in a an address in Owerri during the week.
Chief Muruako, who was also the national legal adviser to the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), said time has come for leaders to have a roundtable towards putting an end to bloodletting in Imo state.
He also reiterated the need for politicians to unite irrespective of party affiliations and rally round the Governor Hope Uzodinma administration to end the violence and insecurity.
Muruako also called on traditional rulers in the state to actively lend their voices by talking to their subjects especially the youths to calm frayed nerves and restore the peace which Imo State was known for.
He also condoled with the families of those who lost their lives due to insecurity and called for calm to end further destruction of public facilities in the state.
He further called on those who might have genuine concerns to embrace dialogue noting that violence is never a solution to any form of agitation in the modern day world.
“No matter how genuine your complains may be taking up arms cannot bring any solution, we’ve had more than enough bloodletting in our land” Chief Muruako concluded.
