OrderPaperToday– Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada is a newbie member of parliament who falls under the not too young to run catchment but did not use the legislative window to champion the cause for young people, having sponsored zero bill in the first half of the 9th assembly.
He is representing Kano Manucipal federal constituency under the platform of the All progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives. He is serving as the Chairman, Committee of National Security and Intelligence.
He started his career as a marketing assistant at Freedom Radio Nigeria in Kano State, where he served at the programme department, and developed sponsored programs after spending a few years on the religion desk. He later became the Personal Assistant on broadcast media to the President.
Mr. Sharada began his political career during his undergraduate days when he contested for the position of the National Public Secretary, of National Association of Kano State Students Association.
However it can be said that he has given his constituents reasons to question his capacity as a lawmaker by sponsoring no bill in the first two years of the 9th assembly, knowing fully well that it is one of the primary responsibility required of him as a legislator.
Nonetheless, a good record of performance on the areas of representation and oversight functions may make up for him as they are all key responsibilities expected from legislators. He may perhaps do better in the remaining years of the 9th assembly and have sponsored bills tied to his name.
