OrderPaperToday – Son of former Ogun State Governor, Olumide Osoba, has not quite flown the flag of impressive performance in terms of bills sponsorship at midterm of the 9th National Assembly.
However, former governor, now senator, Ibikunle Amosun leads the Ogun State contingent with 15 bills. Worthy of note among the bills sponsored by him are: Electronic Transactions Bill 2019, Nation-wide Toll Bill 2020, Environmental Impact Assessment ACT CAP E12 LFN 2004 (Repeal & Re-enactment) Bill 2020, and Local Industry Patronage Bill 2020. Amosun represents Ogun Central senatorial district and it is worthy of note that he was once a senator before becoming a two-term governor. He leads ex governors on the bills sponsorship chart of the 9th Senate.
Sen. Tolulope Akinremi Odebiyi, representing Ogun West senatorial district, is ranked second with 10 bills; while Sen. Ramoni Olalekan Mustapha of Ogun East Senatorial district, comes third with 6 bills.
The senators from the state have ensured that two years in the Assembly are eventful. In the first legislative year, Amosun sponsored 6 bills, Odebiyi 5 and Mustapha 4 bills respectively.
From the House of Representatives, Mr. Kolawole Lawal (Egbado South/Ipokia) is first in the order of volume with 6 bills to his credit. Adekoya Adesegun Abdul-Majeed (Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside) comes second with 4 bills; and Jimoh Olaifa Aremu (Egbado North/Imeko- Afon) comes third with 3 bills.
Messrs Ojugbele Jimoh Olusola and Osunsanya Kolapo Korede, representing Ado-Odo Ota and Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East respectively have not sponsored any bills in the first two years of their four-year tenure.
Other first timers from Ogun are Edun Olarewaju Oladapo (Abeokuta South) with two bills and Olumide Babatunde Osoba (Obafemi Owode/Odeda) with 1 bill. Youthful Olumide is a newbie and scion of former governor of the State.
Mrs. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, a first timer and the only female representative from the state in both chambers, whose performance presents a judgment call on the performance of female legislators in the 9th assembly, currently has 2 bills to her credit.
Returning members of the House from the state, including Jimoh Aremu (Egbado North/Imeko Afon), Ibrahim Isiaka (Ifo/ Ewekoro) and Adekoya Abdul-Majeed (Ijebu North/Ijebu East/ Ogun Waterside), have 3 bills, 4 bills and 4 bills respectively.
