OrderPaperToday – The power of women, they say, cannot be underestimated in societal development. This saying is underscored by the performance of one of the three senators from Adamawa, Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (APC, Adamawa-Central), who is the highest bill sponsor from the State.
In her two years in Senate, she has sponsored 11 bills, 3 of which were sponsored in the first legislative year. Her bills constitute 55% of the total bills sponsored by the Senators from Adamawa. Interestingly, 5 out of the 11 bills are already passed in Senate. Aisha Dahiru was a member of the House of Representatives before her election to the Senate.
Sen. Binos Dauda Yaroe (PDP, Adamawa- South) and Sen. Ishaku Elisha Cliff Abbo (APC, Adamawa-North), the youngest member of the Senate have respectively sponsored 5 and 4 bills. These constitute 25% and 20% of the total bills sponsored by Senators from the State.
However, the three senators from Adamawa State have only contributed 2.7% of the 747 bills sponsored at the Senate in the period under review.
In the House of representatives, Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas (APC, Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo) is the sponsor of the highest number of bills at 10 and constituting 45.4% of the total among Rep members from the state. 9 of his bills were sponsored in the first year.

It is important to note that 4 out of the 8 members have not sponsored any bill in two years. They are: Zakaria Dauda Nyampa (PDP, Madagali/Michika), Muhammed Mustafa Saidu (PDP, Fufore/Song), Abdulrauf Abdulkadir Modibbo (APC, Yola North/Yola South/Girei) and Gibeon Goroki (PDP, Guyuk/Shelleng).
