OrderPaperToday – Solomon Adaelu is one of the eight members of the House of Representatives flying the flag of Abia State in the current 9th assembly.

But he is the only ranking member from the state without a bill to his name in the first two years of the four-year tenure.

Mr. Adaelu, who represents Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is a one-time Commissioner for Public Utilities and Rural Development respectively in Abia State. He was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of his private firm before entry into the legislature.

He is a ranking Member of Parliament, having been first elected into the House of Representatives in 2015 to join others in the 8th assembly. Adaelu is currently serving as the Deputy Chairman, Committee on Information and Communication of the House.

Adaelu is without a bill in two years
Mr. Adaelu

Record shows that while all but one of his counterparts from the state have sponsored bills, he joins the no-show list of the House at midterm (June 2019 to May 2021). This is despite his experience and exposure to politics over the years.

This is also in spite of the fact that he is a known crypto currency advocate and could have proposed a legislation to govern the use of the virtual currency.

This non-performance on bills is however, without prejudice to his possible efforts on the two other core functions of representation and oversight required of a legislator.

Perhaps, a good record of performance in those other aspects could make the people of his constituency consider him a worthy representative.
