OrderPaperToday – The three senators from Bauchi State could only manage 5 bills between them in the first two years of the 9th National Assembly.
This is as 8 of the 12 members of the House of Representatives from the State could not produce a bill in same period under review.
Of the 5 bills in Senate, Sen. Lawal Yahaya Gumau (APC, Bauchi-South) sponsored 1 bill and that was in the first legislative year.
Sen. Adamu Bulkachuwa (APC, Bauchi-North) also has 1 bill in two years and that was sponsored in the second legislative year.
However, Sen. Halliru Dauda Jika (APC, Bauchi-Central), raised the bar a step higher by sponsoring 2 bills both of which were sponsored in the first year of the 9th assembly.
Cumulatively, the three senators have sponsored 0.6% of the total bills by the 9th Assembly Senate.
In the House of Representatives, a majority of the members from the state did not have a single bill in two years.
However, Mr. Manu Soro Masur (APC, Darazo/Ganjuwa) saved some face for team Bauchi in the House by posting a total 12 bills. This constitutes 44.44% of bills sponsored by members from the State; and 7 of these were sponsored in the first year.
Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker and serial decampee (APC, Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa), comes next in line by sponsoring 10 bills constituting 37.04% of the total bill sponsored by members from Bauchi. All 10 bills were sponsored in the first year when he managed a very scant show at work
Mr. Muda Lawal Umar (APC, Toro) has sponsored 3 bills, constituting 11.11% of the Bauchi tally. Two of these were sponsored in the first year.
Abdulkadir Sa’ad Abdullahi (APC Ningi/Warji) has 2 bills to his credit which were both sponsored in the first legislative year of 9th Assembly. This comes to 7.41% of total bills sponsored by the Reps.
