OrderpaperToday– The Jigawa federal lawmakers in the 9th National Assembly have a total tally of 22 Bills sponsored at midterm.
This makes them one of the set with the lowest Bills performance tallies half into their tenure. While the three senators have presented 5 Bills, the 11 members in the House of Representatives have a total 17 bills.
Sen. Sabo Mohammed Nakudu (APC, Jigawa South-West) and Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia (APC, Jigawa North-East) have sponsored two Bills each. These are the bills they sponsored in their first year in the 9th Assembly. Thus for the second year, they have no new bills. Both also have a Bill at first reading and committee stages. Like most of their counterparts, several of their bills are seeking to establish one agency or the other.
Similarly, Sen. Danladi Abdullahi Sankara (APC, Jigawa North-West) has only one Bill which was sponsored in his first year. It is the Public Procurement Aat 2007 (Amendment) Bill 2019 (SB. 158), which has been passed.
For the members in the House, Hon. Fulata Abubakar Hassan (APC, Birniwa/Guri/Kiri Kasama) has sponsored a bulk of the Bills with 11 to his name. Whereby he sponsored four in the first year he has been able to add seven new bills to his tally in his second year in the 9th Assembly. Fulata is the Chairman, Committee on Rules and Business of the House.
While Da’u Aliyu Magaji (APC, Birnin Kudu/Buji) remains at four Bills from the previous year, Abubakar Makki Yalleman (APC , Mallam Madori / Kaugama) and Abdullahi Ibrahim Dutse (APC, Dutse /Kiyawa) now have a bill each in the second year. Most of these bills are to establish educational institutions in their constituencies.
Finally, the following members are yet to sponsor any Bill in two years: Sani Ado Kiri (APC, Ringim/Taura), Kazaure Muhammad Gudaji (APC, Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/Yankwashi), Sani Nazifi (APC, Gumel/Sule/Maigatari Gagarawa/Tankarkar), Adamu Muhammadu (APC, Babura/Garki Fagengawo), Ibrahim Usman Auyo (APC, Hadejia/Kafin Hausa/Auyo), and Yusuf Saidu Miga (APC, Jahun/Miga).
The late member, Kila Hassan Yuguda (APC, Gwaram) also did not have a bill before his demise on the 4th of March 2021.
