OrderPaperToday– Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya has said that the Delta State Government is committed to protecting the people from violent attacks in their communities.

Reacting to the alleged abduction and killing of the traditional ruler of Ubulu-Uku, Obi Akaeze Ofulue the III by Fulani herdsmen, Igbuya not only condemned the murder of the monarch but assured the community that the Delta State Government will take “appropriate action.”

“This highly provocative act poses a great threat to peace and security. Deltans and non Deltans must choose a better path” he said.
The Speaker said this while addressing protesters under the auspices of Anioma Security Watch Network (ASWN), who were at the Delta State House of Assembly to vent their displeasure over the murder of the monarch and the violent activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state.

They requested the Delta State Government to provide a permanent place for the Fulani herdsmen.

In response, Igbuya urged them to keep shunning violence and retaliation while promising to present the issue of the Fulani herdsmen and other grievances to Governor Okowa.

“I understand the issues but you must shun violence. I’ll continue to encourage and support all efforts to prevent crisis in the state” he said.
