OrderPaperToday – The death weekend of first civilian governor of Delta State and former senator, Alex Ibru has been described as a great loss to Nigeria.

While President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said “Ibru’s contributions to the growth of democracy in Nigeria remains legendary,” his predecessor, David Mark stated that the late politician was a “very discipline,  honest, patriotic and incorruptible statesmen who promoted the  culture of integrity and moral uprightness in both private and public life.”

“He laid the solid foundation upon which subsequent Governors of Delta State have continued to build. We shall all miss him,” Saraki said in a statement by his special adviser on media, Yusuph Olaniyonu.
Mark on his part noted that “it is on record that late Ibru was an incorruptible Senator who never compromised his integrity,” adding that as a member of the  then Senate Committee on Education during the Infamous N55million bribe for budget  scandal in 2005 Ibru was never found wanting “because he was a man of very high moral standing who would not compromise . He was an incorruptible parliamentarian.

” There are very few  men of integrity like Senator Ibru in Nigeria. As a state governor he laid the solid foundation for today’s Delta state. As a Senator, he distinguished himself as a consummate public servant. As a business man, he demonstrated hard work, resourcefulness and integrity.”
