OrderPaperToday– Abdulkadir Rahis is one of the ten lawmakers from Borno at the 9th House of Representatives.
Representing Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Rahis began his political career in the 1990s, when he ran for a councillorship seat in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council’s Shehuri South.
He was later appointed Supervisory Councillor For Works in 2001; a position he held until 2003 when he was appointed on the Board of Directors of ElKanemi Warriors Football Club.
From 2006 to 2011, he served for two terms as Youth Leader in the Borno chapter of his party before he was appointed Special Assistant to the then Governor, Kashim Shettima. He would later be appointed Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council; a position he held for five years.
In 2015, he was elected into the Federal House of Representatives to represent his constituency and was re-elected in 2019. His legislative interests include poverty alleviation and youth development.
Despite his focus on the reduction of poverty levels across the country, improvement of the living standards of all citizens, as well as years of experience as a ranking member, the records show that he didn’t sponsor any bill in the first two years of the 9th National Assembly.
Nonetheless, his performance in the area of bill sponsorship is unrelated to his efforts in the other two legislative responsibilities of oversight and representation.
