OrderPaperToday – The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) and the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation have reaffirmed commitment to support each other in helping the federal government to fight corruption and fiscal leakages in government agencies.

Both agencies will also continue to use the instruments of their offices in helping the government to raise revenue for it’s operators by improving checks on fiscal regulations and discouraging inadequate remittances and poor implementation of projects by government agencies.

The position was shared during a courtesy visit by the management of FRC led by it’s Chairman, Mr. Victor Muruako to the Auditor General for the Federation, Mr. Ughu Adulphus.

The FRC Chairman who congratulated Mr. Aghughu on his recent appointment to the position by Mr. President, Muhammed Buhari, pleaded with his host to take cognisance of the template for the calculation of operating surplus in the course of carrying out its audit functions on Ministries, Directorates and Agencies (MDAs).

He recalled that the approval of the template was officially introduced in 2016 through the Federal Treasury circular (Ref. No: TRY A10 & B10/2016) OAGF/CAD/026/V.III/101

Mr. Aghughu in the same vein thanked his guests assuring them that the FRC and the Office of the Auditor General both belong to the public finance management family and are working for the same general purpose of enthroning prudence, accountability and value-for- money in government operations.

He affirmed his commitment to the war on corruption and to measures that improve the compliance, transparency and accountability of MDAs of government as well as government-owned businesses to extant rules and regulations.

Recall that the FRC had earlier partnered with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) on fighting fiscal corruption and deepening transparency in Nigeria.

This renewed partnership drive by the FRC is part of the agenda of the Muruako-led management of the Commission since his substantive appointment by the President.
