OrderPaperToday- Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has promised his government support in the form of needed incentives and legal framework, for the take- off of a new fertilizer plant in the state.
The proposed manufacturing plant will be established by Prime Gold Fertiliser and Chemical Company, an indigenous company based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to a statement issued by Tambuwal’s spokesman Imam Imam, the Governor made this assurance after a meeting with the management team of the company, led by Chairman/CEO, Mr. Felix Okonti, in Sokoto.
Tambuwal assured the firm that they are making a wise investment by choosing Sokoto State because of its abundant natural resources required for making fertilizer, comparative advantage with other states in terms of
peace, abundant skilled and unskilled labour, hospitable environment and
He said: “Importantly, there’s a huge market for the product in Sokoto and
surrounding areas including Niger Republic”.
In his remarks, Okonti said with large deposit of primary natural substances derived from nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, Sokoto has enough deposit of raw materials needed for making fertilizer.
He said when completed, the first phase of the plant will produce 100,000 metric tones of fertilizer and will provide direct job opportunities to 5000 persons in addition to boosting the socio-economic activities of the state.
