The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has commended people of Benue state especially the Tiv community for voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in year’s last general election.

Benue people according to the Speaker, are special people becausr they have been at the centre of change in Nigeria saying “history will be kind to you.”
The speaker further said: “When we needed change in this country, you stood firmly for change.”
He said that even though there were alot of commentators who thought APC victory wont be possible in Benue state, ” but our party recorded victory because you stood firmly.”
The Speaker also condoled with the people and government of Benue state over the demise of Tor Tiv who died in November last year.
Speaking earlier, Engineer Ujege lamented that despite being the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria, the Tiv people have been facing marginalisation in the polity.
“Unfortunately, decisions are being taken on the economy, security and unity of this country without representation from the Tiv people,” Ujege said.
