Deputy Senate President Barau offers scholarship to 628 students of BUK

The Senator’s media aide noted that the scholarship scheme will be extended to all students from Kano North studying in Nigeria.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has granted scholarships to 628 students enrolled at Bayero University Kano (BUK).

These students, who hail from the Kano North Senatorial District, which Senator Jibrin represents, have been awarded N50,000 each as part of this initiative.

Flagging off the scheme at the School of Continuing Education, BUK, on Monday, the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, said the scheme was conceived by the Deputy President of the Senate to support his constituents to pursue their studies in various tertiary institutions in the country.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, on Monday in Abuja, the scholarship initiative will encompass students from the Kano North Senatorial District studying in all tertiary institutions across the country.

“This scholarship scheme was designed to empower undergraduates from the Kano North Senatorial District. Each student will receive N50,000 courtesy of Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate,”

He further emphasized that this gesture isn’t limited to BUK as all students from Kano North studying in Nigeria will benefit from it, adding that this is not the first instance of Senator Jibrin’s community-oriented support, having previously aided farmers and other members of the society.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the scholarship to their advantage and dedicate themselves to their studies for academic success.

Fourth-year student, Adama Iliyasu Rabiu, expressed gratitude for the scholarship, adding that the financial aid would aid in his registration and studies.

Similarly, Shamsuddeen Usman, a third-year student, echoed the appreciation for the N50,000 scholarship and shared that yearly, he struggled to cover his school fees and was grateful for the support from Senator Jibrin.
