OrderPaperToday – Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya weekend denied that N750million was spent on a recent oversea training embarked by the state legislators.
Speaking with the media Igbuya described allegation that such amount of money was expended for training abroad as false. The state legislators had recently visited the United States of America on a supposed training tour funded from the public purse.
“These are the handiwork of our political enemies who are bent on tarnishing the good image of the House. It is madness for anybody to have such a thought or even make such a statement. That is not true. No such amount was given to this Honourable House for training,” he said according to a statement by his media aide, Mr. Henry Ovie.
Speaking glowingly on his achievements in office so far, the speaker described the future of the assembly under his leadership as bright.
“Deltans will continue to experience robust legislation on matters that promote their general well-being,” he said while heaping praises on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his leadership qualities and his efforts at expanding economic opportunities for Deltans.
“My primary agenda in the Delta State House of Assembly is to ensure that laws are made by the House for the peace, security and good governance of the state. Laws that would be result oriented and have positive impact on the lives of Deltans,” he said.
