OrderPaperToday- Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara has reiterated the National Assembly’s commitment to provide the necessary funding to the armed forces to fight Boko Haram insurgency.

In a press statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, the Speaker finally commiserates with the people of Bornu State over the death of about 65 people killed on Saturday in Dalori.  He expressed deep sadness over the incident, describing the killings as  “senseless and a crime against God and humanity.”

“I am deeply touched by the number of deaths from the recent terrible attack on Dalori on the outskirt of Maiduguri, Borno state capital by the murderous Boko Haram insurgents and spate of bombings in Adamawa State over the past days.

“This is one attack too many. The spate of killings and destruction of property by blood-thirsty terrorists is inhuman and a reminder to us all on the need to work together to defeat terrorism.

“I condemn it in the strongest possible terms as the handiwork of heartless, godless and barbaric terrorists who are all out to shatter the relative peace that is returning to the North East. It is yet another desperate attempt by the insurgents to instil fear in the minds of Nigerians at a time they are facing imminent defeat in the hands of Nigerian security forces.

“I wish to express my heartfelt condolence to the victims’ families, the government and people of Borno and Adamawa states over these dastardly acts.”

While commending the on- going efforts of the brave men and women of the Armed Forces at the battle front, Dogara “urged them to push on as victory is near and sooner rather than later, terrorists and terrorism will be extinct from our land.”

The lawmaker also called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the restoration of peace in the country since “with God victory is certain”.
