OrderPaperToday – Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas has frowned at the rejection of corps members posted to Ministries, Departments and Agencies for primary assignments.
Namdas who is Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, said it is unacceptable for Corps members to be rejected considering the aims and objectives of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
He noted that rejections in the past led to death of some Corp members in search of place of primary assignments.
Briefing on activities of the House for the week ended hinted on investigations so far carried out by some Committees.
Among these investigations were the alleged N2.7billion severance package the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) reserved to pay its commissioners.
The lawmaker said the Committee on Power in their investigation discovered that the commissioners who are politically appointed “want to pay themselves severance, gratuity and pension at the same time. They can not be political appointees and permanent staff”.
He added that “the salaries of NERC seems to cause a national calamity for Income, Salaries and Wages Commission”.
