Governor Tambuwal specifically called on Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Christmas to pray for complete end to terrorist activities in the country.

In a message his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal said with prayers, gains recorded by the security agencies in the fight against insurgency will be consolidated.

“We should all pray for a complete end to terrorist activities in our country. The coming year provide an opportunity for our country to start afresh. I am confident 2016 will be one of the most peaceful years in our country’s recent history,” the Governor said.

While wishing all Nigerians, especially those of Christian faith, a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, Tambuwal prayed for a hitch-free celebrations and holidays.

On his part, Olulade, said the country has gone through a lot of turbulent periods with the general elections that were held in March 28 and April 11 and the activities of the Boko Haram sect, which have claimed many innocent lives.

According to the lawmaker, who represents Epe Constituency II, “as at this time last year, there were fears in the minds of many Nigerians because of the predictions that we will disintegrate before the end of this year. But God in His infinite mercies did not only keep us together, we held our elections peacefully and we still remained as one.

“Even before the general elections, many had thought that the elections won’t be peaceful but here we are today, we had a peaceful transition in which the All Progressives (APC) took over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). All these did not just happen incidentally; it was because of our collective prayers.

“So, I am calling on all Nigerians to continue offering their fervent prayers for this nation and the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari so that he will be able to implement all his agenda to the latter.

“Also, residents of Lagos should always remember to pray for the state Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and his administration in order for the state to overcome all her challenges,” the statement read in part.

Olulade, however, felicitated with Nigerians on the celebration of the Christmas just as he urged the citizens to be orderly and remain peaceful, praying that “God shall keep us all to see the coming Year 2016, which I believe will be a year of turnaround for good for all of us,” he added.
