OrderPaperToday – President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to ensure that every individual who stole the country’s fund in the last administration is made to refund and eventually sent to jail to serve as deterrent to others.

This advice was given by two members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abiodun Tobun (Epe Constituency 1) and Bisi Yusuf (Alimosho Constituency 1) during an interaction with assembly correspondents on Thursday.

According to them, the Federal Government must recover stolen funds from indicted former public officials and their cronies and those indicted should not be allowed to go scot-free.

Tobun stated that Nigerians can now see why Nigeria would have become bankrupt if former President Goodluck Jonathan had won the 2015 presidential election, saying looted funds must be recovered and those involved sent to jail “to serve as a deterrent to others.”

The lawmaker urged members of the judiciary to do their best to ensure that guilty public officials and their cronies do not go scot-free.

Yusuf on his part stated that when President Buhari indicated interest to contest for the nation’s presidency, people didn’t know that he could achieve maximum moral standard, adding that the people can now see that it was God that put him in power.

“We can see the revelations. Imagine if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got back to power, it would have been so bad and Nigeria would have totally broken down,” he said.

According to him, “revelation of financial recklessness of the past government and the huge amount of money that is being discussed is criminal and the people involved should be prosecuted. The first thing is for us to take the money back from them and people should know how much has been collected and they must be prosecuted.”
