OrderPaperToday – Senate President Bukola Saraki Thursday referred a petition against Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar to the senate committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.

This was after Sen. Obinna Ogba (PDP, Ebonyi state) laid the petition at senate plenary.

The petition bothers on corruption charges and abuse of office and it is to be investigated by the committee which has two weeks to report back to senate on its findings.

Speaking with newsmen after plenary, Sen. Ogba said the petition was sent by a group, Anti-Corruption Network and signed on its behalf one Ajaso I. Ajaso. According to him, the petitioners had not sought judicial remedy against Umar but decided to get senate intervention on the allegations first.

The senator stressed that the petition has nothing to do with the trial of Saraki at the CCT.
