OrderPaperToday – The Senate on Thursday called on the TY Danjuma committee on support for victims of Boko haram devastation to expedite action on its mandate.
The senate urged the panel to expeditiously ensure effective utilisation of funds donated by stakeholders to cater for Internally Displace Persons(IDPs) in the North east.
The senate made these calls following consideration of a report of the committee on Special Duties on establishment of Presidential Intervention Committee on rehabilitation of the North East Zone.
The committee in his recommendations also called on the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to establish skills acquisition centers in IDP camps across the country.
It also called for the amendment of the National Refugee Commission Act to enable the commission function properly with respect to IDPs.
Chairman of the committe, Sen. Abdul-Aziz Nyako (APC, Adamawa) said the need for a development commission to be in charge of rehabilitating the North East has become an urgent necessity.
