OrderPaperToday – The sudden death of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kogi governorship candidate in Saturday’s election, Mr. Abubakar Audu,has been received with shock by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party has accordingly stated its resolve to refrain from further comments on the conduct and outcome of the election which was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, said the party has urged its faithfuls in Kogi and in deed all Nigerians to pray for the repose of the soul of late Audu and succour for the family left behind.
“At this critical moment, the PDP refrains from comments on the conduct of the election.,” the statement said, saying “that is not important now. What is important at this point is the sanctity of human life. Our deepest thoughts and prayers go to the family of Prince Abubakar Audu and indeed, the APC fold.”
The statement added that: “On this note, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, charges all PDP members in Kogi and across the nation to keep Prince Audu, his family and loved ones in their prayers, as we mourn with them and the people of Kogi state over this monumental loss.”
