OrderPaperToday – Nigerians are reacting very angrily against an anti-social media bill that scaled second reading in the Senate Wednesday.

Many have taken to Twitter to express their disappoint with the bill which prescribes a jail term of two years imprisonment upon conviction for false posts on social media.

The bill is sponsored by Deputy Leader of the Senate, Bala Ibn Na’Allah (APC, Kebbi State).

Many commentators say the bill is an attempt to censor social media and restrict press freedom in Nigeria.

They have therefore called on the senate to stand down on the bill while some lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration for seeking to destroy the bridge with which it rode to power.
