A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Onofiok Luke, has ‘sheathed his sword’ with the party’s Governorship candidate, Umo Eno.

Rep. Luke, who represents Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency in the Ninth House of Representatives, made the move on Tuesday when he dropped his governorship ambition in avowed support for the emergence of the PDP Governorship Candidate at the 2023 election.

The development follows a peace deal brokered by the palace of the Oku Ibom Ibibio and Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, from where both politicians hail from.

In declaring his support for the ambition of the candidate, the lawmaker described the high-powered meeting as symbolic because his fathers instituted it. He noted that
as a child from a humble home, he cannot disobey the monarchs.

“I have to honour my people, my fathers – the traditional rulers, the PDP which gave me a platform to serve the people. I will work for the emergence of Pastor Umo Eno as Governor of Akwa Ibom State come 2023,” the former Akwa Ibom Speaker pledged.

On his part, an elated Pastor Umo Eno noted: “I will work with you with an open heart. I am your senior in age but God has raised you as my senior in politics. I will never take this for granted. Help me reassure your teeming supporters that your people shall be my people.”
