The senate had earlier resolved to resume on Tuesday, 17 September, 2024 but has now extended its annual by one week
The Senate has postponed its resumption from its annual recess to Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
This was disclosed in an internal memorandum signed by the Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze on Wednesday, 11 September, 2024.
The memo titled “Change in Resumption Date from Summer Break,” which was addressed to all 109 Senators however did not state the reason for the postponement.

OrderPaper recalls that the Senate on July 23, 2024, embarked on its annual recess to resume on Tuesday, 17 September, 2024.
The memo read, “Dear Distinguished Senators. I hope this memo finds you well. Please be informed that the resumption date from the ongoing recess has been rescheduled from Tuesday, September 17, 2024 to Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 11:00 am.”
